2018-19 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PREVIEW

(Miles City, MT)  The 2018-19 Pioneer women's basketball season is about to begin and they have been busy getting ready for tip-off.  The Pioneers will begin regular season play  at the MonDak Conference Tip-off Tournament against North Dakota State College of Science on November 1 at 5:00 pm in New Town, ND.  The Women are looking to pick up where they left off last year and continue their winning ways.  They finished the 2017-18 season 25-8, making an appearance in the Region IX Final Four.

The Pioneers will return five players from last season, so there will be experience out there on the court at any given time.  Amongst the returners is NJCAA All-Conference and Region IX All-Tournament player, Patrycja Jaworska.  Jaworska averaged 16.2 points per game for the Pioneers and shot 39.6% from 3-point land.  Also returning is Bre Moea'i.  Bre was named to the All-Conference Defensive team in 2017-18.  Moea'i averaged 8.5 points per game and 3.6 rebounds.  All-Tournament player, Dakota Dosch will also return to the court for the Pioneers.  Dakota averaged 9.9 points per game and 4.8 rebounds per game.

Head Women's Coach Nate Vogel has worked in the off-season to make improvements and he is hopeful and optimistic that they will pay off.  "I'm really excited to see what this team can accomplish.  We've added some length and athleticism to our roster with hopes that will put us over the top and into the National Tournament.  We return five players that all started at some point last season.  PJ, Bre, and Dakota received some awards last year but they couldn't have done it without the help of Kylee Meredith, Laura Moya Demures and the rest of their teammates.  Kylee has probably put more extra work in this summer than anyone.  Laura may be our most improved player. With our five returners and the addition of some great freshman, we feel we will have a team that can compete.  We are excited to see where we fit in our new Conference."

The Pioneers have moved from Region IX to Region XIII and the MonDak Conference this season. The MonDak Conference consists of eight teams including MCC.
