PIONEERS TOP UTTC, IMPROVE TO 23-0

(Bismarck, ND) The unbeaten Pioneers traveled to Bismarck, ND to face the Thunderbirds of United Tribes Technical College on Monday evening in the first of two road games this week.  MCC got off to a rolling start when they outscored the Thunderbirds, 17-2 in the opening minutes and took a 44-20 lead into halftime.  Poor shooting in the second half allowed the Thunderbirds to claw their way back, outscoring the Pioneers 24-14 in the final quarter.  Despite a poor fourth quarter, the Pioneers held on to defeat United Tribes, 79-61. The women now stand at 23-0 on the season and 8-0 in conference play.

Bre Moea'i led the Pioneers in scoring with 14 points, followed by Caitlyn Barkins with 13 and Patrycja Jaworska with 12.  Barkins led the team in rebounding, pulling down five boards.  Jaworska had five assists to lead the Pioneers.

The Pioneers will continue their road stand on Wednesday when they travel to Devil's Lake, ND to face the Lake Region Royals at 5:30 pm Mountain time.
