PIONEERS KNOCK OFF WILDCATS, IMPROVE TO 25-0

(Miles City, MT)  The Pioneers faced the two-time defending MonDak champion Wildcats of NDSCS in front of a packed crowd on Sunday afternoon in the Kailey Gymnasium.  MCC got off to a great start, outscoring the Wildcats, 28-9 in the first quarter.  The Pioneers cooled off a little in the second quarter, but still took a 44-27 lead into the halftime break. Foul trouble and poor shooting allowed the Wildcats to pull the Pioneers back in the fourth quarter, outscoring MCC, 16-8.  Despite three Pioneers fouling out of the game in the fourth quarter, MCC's defense stepped up once again when the offense was struggling.  MCC forced 23 turnovers and scored 32 points off of those turnovers.  The Pioneers shot 50% from the field and 51.9% from three to ultimately come out on top, 79-65.

Patrycja Jaworska was the leading scorer with 20, followed by Dakota Dosch with 12, Claire Borot with 11, and Josselin Geer with 10.  Claire Borot and Bre Moea'i each pulled down seven boards to lead the Pioneers.  Jaworska had six assists to lead the team.  Kylee Meredith had three steals.

The Pioneers will be in action again on Wednesday, February 13 when they travel to Bottineau, ND to face the Jacks of Dakota College at 4:30 pm Mountain time.
