PIONEERS GET PAST DAWSON, 68-56

(Miles City, MT) The Pioneers were looking to stay perfect in Thursday evening's rivalry game against the Dawson Buccaneers.  Five Pioneers scored in double figures in front of a packed house in the Kailey Gymnasium.   MCC didn't have their best game, however, and they had a hard time finding the basket all night long, which allowed DCC to hang around.  The Pioneers took just an eight point lead into the locker room at the half, with a score of 30-22.  MCC was able to pull away slightly in the second half, but were still unsuccessful at finding any sort of a rhythm.  The Pioneer defense showed up once again with 17 steals, forcing 34 turnovers and scoring 33 points off of those turnovers.   MCC ultimately came away with the win, 68-56.  The Pioneers improve to 29-0 and 13-0 in the conference with just one regular season game to go.  MCC currently sits at #17 in the nation and the Pioneers are just one of two NJCAA Div I schools that are still undefeated.

Lucia Salazar led the team in scoring, with 12.  Claire Borot added 11 in the effort, followed by Patrycja Jaworska, Dakota Dosch, and Bre Moea'i, each with 10 points.  Salazar and Dosch each had five rebounds to lead the team.  Jaworska led the Pioneers in assists, with six.  Dosch had five steals in the game.

One game remains in the regular season for the Pioneers.  United Tribes will travel to Miles City to face MCC on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 pm.  Sunday's game is "Ballin' For a Cure" night.  Wear your pink to the game or be one of the first 100 people in the door and receive your free "Ballin' For a Cure" t-shirt.
