Lady Pioneers Stumble in Season Finale

The MCC Lady Pioneers had a tough time finding the shooting touch Sunday afternoon in Bismarck as the United Tribes Thunderbirds rallied from a 6-point halftime deficit for a 73-63 win to end the MonDak Conference regular season. The Lady Pioneers (10-4, 18-12) finish conference play as the 3rd seed and will open the Region 13 playoffs Friday vs. Williston State in Bismarck, ND on campus of Bismarck State. 

Binta Salawu scored 22 points and grabbed 9 rebounds while Kate Golovkina added 15 points and 11 rebounds for the afternoon. Claire Borot added 12 points for the Lady Pioneers who shot a miserable (22-81 27%) from the field, (6-28 3's 21%) and (13-24 FT 54%). The Pioneers outrebounded the T-Birds 59-31 on the day and snagged 33 offensive boards but just couldn't put the ball in the hoop when they needed to. Tribes outscored the Lady Pioneers 47-31 in the 2nd half. The T-Birds were led by LaTosha Thunderhawk with 24 points and Kierra Johnson with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
