Cold Shooting Ends Lady Pioneer Season

The NDSCS Wildcats took the lead early and led wire to wire on a cold shooting afternoon by MCC as the Lady Pioneers season came to an end in the Region XIII semifinal in Bismarck, ND. The Lady Pioneers could never get on track as they shot only 26% in the first half and trailed 32-26 at halftime. They cut the lead to one point in the third quarter before NDSCS went on a 7-0 run to lead by 8 and hold on in the 4th quarter. Lady Pioneer sophomores Claire Borot and Binta Salawu again led the charge for MCC. Salawu had 21 points (7-24 FG, 3-7 3's, 4-8 FT) and had 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Borot had 18 points (5-11 FG, 3-5 3's) and had 11 rebounds in her final game as a Pioneer. Freshman Lili Long added 10 points.

The Lady Pioneers connected on only 19-67 FG (28%), 10-28 3's (36%), and 11-21 FT (52%). The Lady Pioneers were also outrebounded 57-36 on the afternoon and gave up 19 offensive boards. The Wildcats were led by Zaraya March who had a huge afternoon with 20 ponts and 16 rebounds. Nikki Metcalf added 13 points and 15 rebounds and that duo domintated the game. 

MCC ended the Coach Taylor Harris's opening season with a 19-13 record and the careers of Borot, Salawu, Ekaterina Golovkina, and KP Hoffman come to a close.
