Aussies Lead Pioneers to Big Win

Australia products Rebekah Dallinger (Sydney) and Lili Long (Melbourne) combined for 66 points and 15 rebounds as the Miles Community College women took over sole possession of first place in the MonDak Conference with a 84-70 win over Dawson on Tuesday night in Miles City. The game was rescheduled from a postponed season opener on January 20. The Pioneers shot 51% from the field on the night and hit 10-22 (46%) from the 3-point line. 

Dallinger was the show stopper on the night as she banged out 42 points (15-29 FG, 2-8 3's, 10-16 FT) to go along with 6 rebounds and 8 assists to spearhead the victory. Sophomore Lili Long came up big with 22 points (6-7 FG, 4-5 3's, 6-7 FT) to go along with 9 rebounds as the Pioneers controlled the game from start to finish. Dawson CC's 2-point lead with 6 minutes to go in the first quarter was their only lead of the game. MCC lead by as many as 17 points in the second half. There were 5 ties and 12 lead changes in the back and forth first half. 

Ashya Klopfenstein (Tempe, AZ) led the Bucs with 24 points (6-10 FG, 12-13 FG) and Tamiya Francis (Toronto, Ontario) scored 12 points (4-16 FG, 2-9 3's, 2-3 FT). They were the only Buccaneers in double figures as MCC held DCC to 36% FG and only 27% from the 3-point line. Dawson had 23 turnovers for the game and Miles had 21. Dawson did outrebound the Pioneers 38-34 on the night including 16 offensive rebounds.
