Conejero Records Triple Double as Pioneer WBB Hits Century Mark

With the nation's leading scorer out of the lineup with a hand injury, Freshman guard Jana Conejero picked up the slack by recording a triple-double as the MCC Pioneer Women's team won it's 11th consecutive game defeating United Tribes Technical College 103-79 Thursday night in Bismarck.

Conejero (5'8 Guard, Malaga, Spain) tallied 34 points (12-22 FG, 3-5 3's, 7-9 FT), 11 rebounds, and dished out 12 assists as the Pioneers led by as many as 34 points and cruised to the victory. Sophomore Lili Long (5'11 Sophomore Forward, Melbourne, Australia) helped out by scoring 23 points (7-15 FG, 2-4 3's, 7-9 FT) and 6 assists as the Pioneers cracked triple digits for the first time this season. Freshman Kelbee Denham (5'6 Guard, Malta, MT) had a perfect shooting night connecting on 6-6 FG (2-2 3's) and snagged 6 rebounds. Kate Tanner (6'1 Freshman, Melbourne, Australia) had 13 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. The Pioneers also played without starting guard Olyvia Pacheco (Rawlins, WY) who was nursing an ankle injury.

The Pioneers shot 47% from the field and the 3-point line as they connected on 10 3-pointers. MCC dominated UTTC on the boards with a commanding 58-32 rebounding advantage. The Thunderbirds hit 17 3-pointers on the night (40%) and were led in scoring by Hannah Golus with 22 points and 11 rebounds.

MCC will host Lake Region State College on Monday night at 5:30 PM MST.
