4th Quarter Spurt Leads Pioneers to 12-0

The 7th place Lake Region State Royals gave the MonDak Conference leading Miles CC Pioneers all they could handle for 3 quarters on Monday night, but the Pioneers outscored the Royals 27-11 in the 4th quarter to propel MCC to a 77-53 home win. The Pioneers moved to 11-0 in MonDak Conference play and 12-0 overall.

Rebekah Dallinger (5'9 Freshman, Sydney, Australia) returned to the lineup after sitting out the last game with an injury to score 25 points (8-18 FG, 2-6 3's, 7-9 FT), grab 5 rebounds, and nabbed 4 steals to lead MCC. Lili Long (5'10 Sophomore, Melbourne, Australia) continued her strong play by netting 16 points (4-11 FG, 3-10 3's, 5-8 FT) and grabbed 6 rebounds. Freshman forward Kate Tanner (6'0 Melbourne, Australia) dominated in the paint by scoring 11 points and grabbing 16 rebounds. The Pioneers dominated the Royals on the boards outrebounding LRSC 49-30 for the game including 22 offensive rebounds. That was a big factor in the win as MCC shot only 38% (24-63) from the field.  Kelbee Denham (5'6 Freshman, Malta, MT) dished out a career high 7 assists.

The Royals had only one player in double figures as Kayla Byrne led Lake Region with 18 points (5-9 FG, 4-8 3's, 4-4 FT). MCC doesn't get much time to revel in the victory as they host North Dakota State College of Science on Wednesday and Thursday at the MCC Centra. Both games are scheduled to start at 5:30 PM MST.
