Williston State Ends Pioneer's Perfect Season

Williston State Ends Pioneer's Perfect Season

The Williston State Tetons rallied from a 12-point halftime deficit and trailed by 16 in the third quarter but put together a 47-point 2nd half to stun the former undefeated and 23rd ranked MCC Pioneers on Thursday night in Williston. The Pioneers had already clinched the MonDak Conference regular season title and was looking for its 2nd undefeated regular season in the past 3 campaigns. Williston had other plans as the Tetons got hot from the 3-point line and held the Pioneers on only 30 2nd half points to pull off the win.

Rebekah Dallinger led the charge for the Pioneers scoring 26 points (10-15 FG, 2-5 3's, 4-5 FT) and Jana Conejero added 14 (5-12 FG, 2-6 3's, 2-2 FT) while Olyvia Pacheco chipped in 12 (4-14 FG, 1-7 3's, 3-4 FT). Williston dominated the Pioneers on the boards 41-26 and Kate Tanner led MCC with 7 rebounds.

Williston State had 5 players in double figures led by Keeley Tini with 16 points (4-12 FG, 4-9 3's, 4-4 FT) and the Tetons shot 10-22 from beyond the arc while the Pioneers hit a mere 5-24.

MCC finished the regular season 21-1 (20-1 MonDak Conference) and will host the Region XIII Semifinals on Thursday, April 1 and play the winner of Bismarck State and Williston State. That game will be at 7:00 PM.
