Williston State Women Dominate Pioneers

For the 2nd day in a row, the MCC women's basketball team had a tough time generating offense thru the first 3 quarters of action. Williston State held the Pioneers to 20% shooting (5-24) in the first half and forced 23 turnovers for the game enrout to a 72-43 MonDak Conference victory. The Pioneers trailed 39-13 at halftime and 57-22 at the end of the 3rd quarter before outscoring the Tetons 21-15 in the 4th quarter. 

MCC shot 13-29 (45%) in the 2nd half but hit only 4-21 (19%)  from 3-point range for the game and 3-11 (27%) from the free throw line. Williston State outrebounded the Pioneers 45-31 in the game and shot 29-64 FG (45%) and 8-22 (36%) from 3. 

No Pioneer player scored in double in the game but were led in scoring by Gabby Flute Player (Flandreau, SD) and Catalina de Giorgi (Buenos Aires, Argentina) with 8 points. 2nd year player Molly Cockburn (Christchurch, New Zealand) added 7. Flute Player led the Pioneers in assists with 5 and Aylin Ramirez (Phoenix, AZ) had 4. 

The Pioneers will play their 3rd game of the weekend tomorrow at 11:00 AM MST against the loser of Lake Region/Dakota College-Bottineau.
