Dakota College-Bottineau Pulls Away Late For Win Over Pioneer Women

Lumberjack guar Maria Moore hit a 3-point field goal at the shot clock buzzer with just under a minute to play as the Lumberjacks were clinging to a 1-point lead helping Dakota College at Bottineau to a 73-65 win over the MCC Pioneers at the Centra in Miles City. The Pioneers had cut the lead to one and looked to have the momentum and the stop they needed when Moore hit the step back 3-pointer that proved to be the biggest basket of the night.

Gabby Flute Player (Flandreau, SD) scored the final 5 points of the 3rd quarter on a 3-pointer and a layup that cut a 6-point Bottineau lead to 1 at 53-52 heading to the 4th. Both teams traded blows in the 4th quarter until Moore's shot fell thru giving the Lumberjacks a lead they would not relinquish. The Pioneers were outscored 20-13 in the final frame as many missed opportunities passed by the Pioneers. MCC shot only 7-14 from the free throw line in the 2nd half and missed an array of layups around the basket.

Alyssa St. Pierre came off the bench to lead the Jacks in scoring with 14 points (5-7 FG, 3-4 3's, 1-2 FT) and Haylie Conradsen also came off the bench for 12 points (4-10 FG, 1-5 3's, 3-6 FT). Maria Moore had a rough shooting night prior to her shot clock buzzer beating 3-pointer scoring 11 points (3-15 FG, 2-10 3's, 3-4 FT) but led the Jacks in rebounding with 13.

Aylin Ramirez was the offensive star of the night for the Pioneers scoring a career high 22 points (8-13 FG, 3-5 3's, 3-4 FT) and grabbed 7 rebounds. Flute Player was the only other Pioneer in double figures with 11 points (4-14 FG, 1-5 3's, 2-2 FT) and a team high 9 rebounds.
