The undefeated Western Nebraska Cougars showed why they are a powerhouse in Region IX women's basketball on Sunday night in Gillette, WY as they ran past the MCC Pioneers 101-28 in the last game of the Border Wars Classic. The Cougars dominated from start to finish holding the Pioneers to single digits in each of the 4 quarters.
All 13 Cougars in uniform scored and were led off the bench by Rashaan Smith with 18 points (8-10 FG, 1-1 3's, 1-2 FT) and fellow reserve Martrice Brooks with 15 points (6-7 FG, 3-4 FT). Ale'jah Douglass and Aminata Zie each had 10 points.
The Pioneers didn't have a player in double digits and were led by Molly Cockburn (Christchurch, New Zealand) with 8 points (3-9 FG, 0-4 3's, 2-2 FT). The Pioneers are now 2-12 on the season and 0-7 in MonDak play. Western Nebraska is 10-1.
