Pioneer Women Fall in Conference Opener to NDSCS

Pioneer Women Fall in Conference Opener to NDSCS

Pioneers 55... NDSCS 72

After a rough 1st quarter where the Pioneers could not get anything to fall and NDSCS took a commanding 27-10 lead, the Pioneers hung tough and played even for the rest of the game but could not get over the hump in the MonDak Preseason Tourney.

Freshman Jade Wendland (Havre, MT) had a big game for MCC with 23 points (9-15 FG, 2-4 3's, 3-4 FT). Fellow freshman Jess Tomkins (Melbourne, Australia) scored 9 points and snagged 7 rebounds. Sophomore Ella Paleaae-Cook (Brisbane, Australia) also had 9 points and 7 rebounds.

MCC shot 21-70 (30%) from the field and a mere 4-20 (20%) from the 3-point line. The shooting struggles combined with 23 turnovers were just too much to overcome. The Pioneers did outrebound the Wildcats 49-43 in the game.

MCC will face United Tribes tomorrow at 11:00 AM MST.
