4th Quarter Draught Spells Doom for Pioneer Women

4th Quarter Draught Spells Doom for Pioneer Women

Pioneers 51... Dawson 62

The MCC Pioneer women took a 44-39 lead to the 4th quarter on Tuesday night at the MCC Centra. What happened after that is something the Pioneers would like to forget. Dawson outscored Miles 23-7 in the 4th quarter to take control late and rally for a 62-51 MonDak Conference victory. Both teams struggled shooting from both the field and free throw line in what was a physical, foul plagued game. The Pioneers last field goal took place at the 7:10 mark of the 4th quarter after having a 7-point lead with 2 minutes to play in the 3rd quarter.

Only 2 Pioneers hit for double figures as India Blyth (Melbourne, Australia) scored 13 points (4-11 FG, 1-5 3's, 4-6 FT) before fouling out early in the 4th quarter. Julia Paoletta (Buenos Aires, Argentina) added 10 points (3-13 FG, 0-2 3's, 4-8 FT) to go along with 5 rebound and 5 assists. Ella Paleaae-Cook (Brisbaine, Australia) and Jessica Tomkins (Melbourne, Australia) each had 7 rebounds to lead the Pioneers.

Dawson had 4 players in double figures led by Sabira Ahayeva with 14 points (6-11 FG, 1-4 3's, 1-1 FT) and 7 rebounds.
