5 Pioneers scored in double figures and the Pioneer defense held Central Wyoming to 29% shooting from the field in a resounding 84-48 win at the MCC Centra on Friday night. Julia Paoletta (Buenos Aires, Argentina) led the scoring with 14 points (7-12 FG, 0-1 3's) and 2 steals. Forsyth, MT native Becky Melcher came off the bench to notch 13 points (5-9 FG, 3-6 3's) and Miles City product Reagan LaPlante also came off the bench with a double double of 11 points (5-7 FG, 1-2 FT) and 11 rebounds. Ella Paleaae-Cook (Brisbane, Australia) added 12 points (4-10 FG, 3-8 3's, 1-1 FT) and 8 rebounds while India Blyth (Melbourne, Australia) hit for 11 points (3-10 FG, 0-3 3's, 5-6 FT).

The Pioneers never trailed in a game in which they built a 38-point lead in the 4th quarter as 10 of the 11 players that entered the game for MCC reached the scoring column. After a tight 1st quarter where the Pioneers led 14-10, they stretched the lead to 12 points at halftime and then put the game away with a 19-8 3rd quarter spurt. MCC hit for 30 points in the 4th quarter. 

Melanie Garcia led the way for the Rustlers with 13 points (6-13 FG, 1-4 3's).

  • The Pioneers shot 31-70 (44%) from the field and 7-21 (33%) from the 3-point line. They hit on 15-21 (71%) from the FT line. Central Wyoming was 20-70 (29%) from the field and 4-22 (18%) from the 3-point line. They were only 4-8 from free throw line. 
  • The Pioneer also overwhelmed the Rustlers on the boards holding a 57-34 advantage. The Pioneers had 15 offensive rebounds. 
  • MCC forced 20 Rustler turnovers and the Pioneers hafd 15 turnovers. 

The Pioneers are now 4-5 overall and will face another Region IX opponent Northwest College on Saturday at 2:00 pm in Miles City. The Rustlers fell to 1-7 on the season.
