Freshman forward Jessica Tomkins (Melbourne, Australia) scored 17 points (5-10 FG, 7-8 FT), grabbed 11 rebounds, and dished out 4 assists to lead the MCC Pioneer women to a 60-55 quarterfinal victory over Bismarck State in Bismarck on Wednesday night. Tomkins was joined in double figures by freshman guard Becky Melcher (Forsyth, MT) with 16 points (5-13 FG, 4-11 3's, 2-4 FT) and Angelina Dimasi (Warooni, Australia) with 15 points (7-9 FG, 1-3 FT). The Pioneer defense stifled the high powered Mystic offense holding BSC to well under their season point average. Bismarck State shot only 20-74 (27%) from the field and 2-21 (10%) from 3-point range. The Mystics came in to the game averaging over 70 points per contest.
