Pioneer Season Begins With Loss to NDSCS at MonDak Tipoff

The 2023-24 MCC Pioneer women's basketball season did not get off to the start they wanted with a 74-52 loss to the NDSCS Wildcats at 4 Bears Casino in New Town, ND.

The Pioneers struggled to take care of the basketball against the defensive pressure of the Wildcats and shot 40% from the field in the loss. 

The Wildcats jumped out to a quick 12-4 lead and led 22-14 after one quarter of play. That lead expanded to 39-26 at the half. The Pioneer hung around for the majority of the 2nd half before NDSCS outscored MCC 22-12 in the final stanza and a 22-point victory. 

Brae Eneboe (Conrad, MT) was the lone Pioneer in double figures with 12 points (5-7 FG, 2-4 FT). Tyann Graham (Glasgow, MT) and Lainey Smith (Miles City, MT) each added 8 points in the loss. 

The leading rebounders for MCC were reserve Jessica Makayabo (N47orthlake, TX) and Reagan LaPlante (Miles City, MT).
