Pioneer Women Stumble in 2nd Half of Foundation Classic Opener

Pioneers 66... Northwest College 77

The MCC Pioneer women's basketball team had a tough time finding the hoop over the final 15 minutes of the game and the Northwest College Trappers rallied from a 10-point 3rd quarter deficit to keep the Pioneers winless on the 2023-24 season.

MCC Sophomore guard Tyann Graham (Glasgow, MT) nailed three 3-point field goals in a row during a 3rd quarter run that put the Pioneers ahead 50-40. The Trappers then quickly turned the tides outscoring the Pioneers 34-10 over the next 12 minutes to build a 14-point lead that the Pioneers could not dig out of.

Jessica Makayabo (Northlake, TX) came off the bench for MCC and led the team in scoring with 17 points (3-4 FG, 11-14 FT). Becky Melcher (Forsyth, MT) had 13 points (4-13 FG, 2-9 3's, 3-5 FT) and Graham followed with 11 points (3-5 FG, 3-4 3's, 2-2 FT). Reagan LaPlante (Miles City, MT) had 7 rebounds and Brae Eneboe (Conrad, MT) had 4 assists.
