Rocky Mountain JV Snaps Pioneer Winning Streak

The Rocky Mountain College JV basketball team rolled in to the MCC Centra on Sunday afternoon and built a 28-point 4th quarter lead to stun the Pioneers and end MCC's 3-game winning streak with a 68-58 victory. 

Rocky's defense held the Pioneer offense to just 2 field goals thru the 1st 16 minutes of the 2nd half and the Pioneers shot a dismal 20% in that half. 

The Pioneers got 14 points (3-8 FG, 8-9 FT) from Reagan LaPlante (Miles City, MT) to go along with 5 rebounds. Tyann Graham (Glasgow, MT) added 12 points (3-12 FG, 2-8 3's, 4-5 FT) and Lainey Smith (Miles City, MT) also had 12 points (4-10 FG, 4-8 3's).  Brae Eneboe (Conrad, MT) led the Pioneers in rebounding with 10. 

Madison Blaney scored 14 points to lead 4 Bears in double figures.

  • The Pioneers connected on only 19-62 FG (31%) and 6-25 (24%) from 3-point range. The Bears were 29-53 (55%) from the field and 6-15 (40%) from 3-point range. The Bears were a sizzling 16-24 in the 1st half. 
  • MCC was 14-16 (88%) at the free throw line and RMC was 4-4.
  • Rocky outrebounded the Pioneers 34-27. RMC had 5 offensive boards and the Pioneers had 11. 
  • The teams combined for 51 turnovers as the Bears had 29 and the Pioneers had 22.
  • Rocky outscored the Pioneers 18-6 in the 3rd quarter after leading 36-30 at halftime. 

The Pioneers are now 3-5 on the season. They will resume conference play on Sunday, November 26 at Dawson Community College at 2:00 PM.
