Road Trip to Williston Goes South for Pioneer Women

The MCC Pioneers hit the road Monday afternoon to head north to Williston, ND. The game against the homestanding and league leading Tetons quickly went south for the Pioneers. 

Williston State (5-0 MonDak, 9-0 overall) dominated the contest from start to finish. The Tetons build a 45-27 halftime advantage and then put things away with a 28-5 run in the 3rd quarter to build a 73-32 lead after 3 quarters of play. 

Four Tetons scored in double figures led by Taylor Moffat with 25 points (10-14 FG, 4-5 3's, 1-3 FT) and Allie Garcia with 19 points (7-11 FG, 5-8 3's). 

The Pioneers put only one player in double figures as Becky Melcher (Forsyth, MT) scored 11 points (4-8 FG, 3-6 3's) to go along with 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Reagan LaPlante (Miles City, MT) tallied 8 points (4-6 FG, 0-1 FT) and a team high 6 rebounds. Brae Eneboe (Conrad, MT) also had 8 points.

  • The Pioneers shot 17-50 (34%) from the field and 4-18 (22%) from the 3-point line. MCC connected on only 3-7 from the free throw line. 
  • Williston State shot 31-61 (51%) from the field and hit 10-23 (44%) from the 3-point line. The Tetons hit 13-18 (72%) from the free throw line. 
  • The Tetons outrebounded the Pioneers 37-33. Williston had 10 offensive rebounds and the Pioneers had 9.
  • The Pioneers turned the ball over 20 times and the Tetons had 17.
  • Williston scored 34 points in the paint and Miles had only 12 paint points. 

With the loss, the Pioneers have now dropped 3 games in a row and sit at 0-5 in MonDak Conference play and are 3-7 overall. The Pioneers host Bismarck State on Wednesday night at the MCC Centra at 5:30 PM
