Becky Melcher (Forsyth, MT) poured in 22 points (9-17 FG, 4-10 3's, 0-2 FT), grabbed 6 rebounds, and dished out 4 assists as the MCC Pioneers defeated United Tribes 80-63 for their 2nd consecutive conference win in 2024. 

Tyann Graham (Glasgow, MT) added 16 points (5-10 FG, 4-8 3's, 2-2 FT) and 5 assists to help the Pioneer offensive punch. Jessica Makayabo (Northlake, TX) chipped in 11 points (4-9 FG, 3-3 FT) and Lainey Smith (Miles City, MT) helped out with 10 more (4-10 FG, 2-8 3's) and a team high 7 rebounds. 

The Pioneers led by a count of 17-15 at the end of the 1st quarter and used a big 25-12 bulge in the 2nd quarter to take control of the game as United Tribes never cut the lead to single digits in the 2nd half.

Myonna Dauphinais led UTTC with 24 points (9-19 FG, 3-6 3's, 3-5 FT) and she was followed by Tyleigh Brady with 21 points (9-22 FG, 1-4 3's, 2-2 FT).

  • The Pioneers shot 28-75 (37%) from the field but knocked down 10-26 (39%) from 3-point range. MCC hit 14-19 from the free throw line. 
  • UTTC shot 25-69 (36%) from the field and 6-18 (33%) from the 3-point line. The Thunderbirds were 7-9 at the free throw line.
  • The Pioneers outrebounded the T-Birds 48-46. MCC had 15 offensive rebounds and UTTC had 12. 
  • There were only 2 ties and 2 lead changes in the game. 
  • The Pioneers had 23 points off the bench to only 7 for the T-Birds. 

 Both teams are now 3-6 in MonDak Conference play. MCC is 6-12 overall and UTTC is 5-10 overall. The Pioneers travel to Wahpeton, ND Monday for a 4:30 PM MST game against the NDSCS Wildcats.
