Pioneer Shooting Goes Ice Cold in Loss to Lake Region

Pioneers 50... Lake Region State 56

The MCC Pioneers could not find the range on Thursday afternoon in the Elementary School game and Lake Region State took advantage of the Pioneer shooting woes for a 56-50 MonDak Conference victory in Miles City, MT.

The Pioneers hit only 6-34 field goal attempts in the 2nd half and were only 2-18 on 2-point field goals. MCC led by 8 points with a minute to go in the 1st quarter and had a 4-point lead heading to the 4th quarter. The 4th quarter took a turn for the worse for MCC as the Pioneers struggled to score for the first 8 minutes of the quarter and the Royals took command holding a 12-point lead with 1:45 to play. The Pioneers made a late rush hitting three late 3-pointers to cut the lead to 4 points but the Royals held on to the victory.

The teams combined for 15 points in the 3rd quarter before exploding for 40 points in the 4th. Unfortunately for the Pioneers, 25 of those points came from the Royals. Lake Region scored only 31 points over the first 3 quarters.
