Pioneer Rally Falls Short In Loss to United Tribes

Pioneers 63... United Tribes 67

A late MCC Pioneer rally fell just short as United Tribes came to Miles City and took the season series over the Pioneer women with a 67-63 win on Thursday night.

United Tribes took a 34-25 lead to the halftime break and extended that lead to 14 points halfway through the 3rd quarter and seemed to be in command of the game. The Pioneers quickly hit three 3-pointers in a short span to close out the quarter trailing 52-44. MCC cut the lead to two points late in the game but United Tribes hit some timely free throws to seal the victory. The Pioneers led only shortly in the 1st quarter when they built a 5-point lead before the Thunderbirds

The Thunderbirds were led in scoring by Myona Dauphinais (Fort Totten, ND) with 22 points (7-18 FG, 3-8 3's, 5-6 FT), 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. Tyleigh Brady (New Town, ND) totaled 18 points (9-16 FG, 0-3 3's, 0-1 FT) and had 6 rebounds to go along with 4 assists. TeAnndra Pemberton-Kingbird (Red Lake, MN) came off the bench to score 13 points (5-9 FG, 3-6 3's). Jenna Sanders (Lame Deer, MT) grabbed a team high 11 rebounds.

Brae Eneboe (Conrad, MT) led MCC in scoring with 14 points (4-14 FG, 0-1 3's, 6-8 FT) and also grabbed 6 rebounds. Miles City native Reagan LaPlante registered a double double with 10 points (4-9 FG, 2-2 FT) and 10 rebounds. Becky Melcher (Forsyth, MT) had 11 points (4-15 Fg, 3-10 3's).
