Huge 2nd Half Propels Pioneer Women to Win in Bismarck

The MCC Pioneer women battled back from a 10-point halftime deficit with 48 2nd half points in a 79-72 win on Monday night at Bismarck State. 

Brae Eneboe (Conrad, MT) scored 19 points (7-13 FG, 5-8 FT) and snagged 10 rebounds to lead the way for the Pioneers. She was aided by another double-double off the bench from Jessica Makayabo (Northlake, TX) with 17 points (5-9 FG, 0-1 3's, 7-10 FT) and also had 10 rebounds. Lainey Smith (Miles City, MT) knocked down 16 points (7-16 FG, 2-6 3's, 0-1 FT) to aid in the 2nd half comeback. 

The Pioneers trailed 22-18 in a fast paced 1st quarter. Bismarck State looked to take command building up a 16-point lead with 2:30 remaining in the 1st half. The Pioneers gathered momentum at the end of the half cutting the lead to 41-31 at the break. MCC cut that deficit to 55-53 at the end of the 3rd quarter and then poured in 26 points in the 4th quarter and held the Mystics to 17 to take the win. 

Brynnlee Murdock went for 27 points (10-18 FG, 7-12 3's) and she was aided by Harys Beauchamp with 22 points (8-16 FG, 2-6 3's, 4-5 FT).

  • The Pioneers shot 29-64 (45%) from the field and 5-16 (31%) from the 3-point line. MCC hit 16-23 at the free throw line. 
  • The Mystics shot 27-66 (41%) from the field and 10-32 (31%) from the 3-point line. BSC hit only 8-10 at the free throw line. 
  • The Pioneers outrebounded the Mystics 43-34. MCC had 9 offensive rebounds and BSC only had 5. 
  • MCC committed 20 turnovers and BSC had 19. 
  • There were 5 ties and 4 lead changes in the game. 

MCC pushed it's record to 4-16 in MonDak Conference play and 7-22 overall. The regular season finale is Sunday afternoon as the Pioneer host Dawson for Sophomore day at 1:00 PM. Bismarck State is 3-17 in conference play and 4-25 overall.
