
Pioneers 35... Northwest College 84
Northwest College raced out to an 18-0 lead before the MCC Pioneers scored their first basket of the game with just over a minute to go in the first quarter and the Trappers took a 22-2 lead to the quarter break.
The 2nd quarter was a little better for MCC as NWC outscored the Pioneers 17-14 in that frame to take a 39-16 lead to the halftime break. NWC kept on the gas pedal in the 2nd half outscoring the Pioneers 45-19 over the final 20 minutes.
The Trapper defense forced 33 Pioneer turnovers and as a result NWC had 31 more shot attempts at the basket in the game.
Pien Draisma (Freshman - Katwijk, Netherlands) came off the bench and was the lone Pioneer in double figures with 12 points (6-10 FG, 0-1 3's, 0-4 FT). Isabelle Gurie (Sophomore - Columbus, MT) and Skyler Neumann (Fallon, MT) each had 5 rebounds to lead MCC and Jessica Makayabo (Sophomore - Eastlake, TX) had a team high 4 assists.
Tayva Phillips had 16 points (5-12 FG, 4-9 3's, 2-2 FT) as 13 different Trappers found the scoring column in the game.
