NDSCS Top Pioneer Women for 3rd Time This Season

Pioneers 53... NDSCS Wildcats 83

Maggie Westling (Freshman - Milaca, MN) poured in 30 points (10-13 FG, 10-14 FT) and grabbed 10 rebounds as the NDSCS Wildcats defeated the MCC Pioneers 83-53 for their 3rd victory over the Pioneers this season. 

Demi Van Gils (Sophomore - Amsterdam, Netherlands) added 14 points (5-11 FG, 1-4 3's, 3-4 FT) and NDSCS got another 11 points (5-10 FG, 1-3 3's) from Ezra Baker (Freshman - Underwood, MN).

NDSCS and MCC had 3 ties and 3 lead changes in the first 6:00 of the game but NDSCS then jumped to a 21-14 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and then stretched that lead to 40-22 at halftime. The Wildcats kept the Pioneers at arms length in the 2nd half to pick up their 18th win of the season. 

MCC was led by Tyla Scorah (Freshman - Pakenham, Victoria) with 18 points (6-16 FG, 3-7 3's, 3-4 FT). Isabella Gurie (Sophomore - Columbus, MT) chipped in 10 points (4-10 FG, 2-2 FT) and 7 rebounds.

  • The Pioneers shot 20-67 (30%) from the field and 6-19 from the 3-point line. MCC was 7-10 on free throw line. 
  • The Wildcats shot 28-60 (47%) from the field and 5-19 from the 3-point line. NDSCS was 22-37 at the free throw line. 
  • The Pioneers were outrebounded 47-39 in the game but MCC had 12 offensive rebounds and NDSCS had 11.
  • MCC had 18 turnovers and NDSCS had 17.
