Pioneer Volleyball Drops 5-Set Thriller at Home

The MCC Pioneer volleyball team took a commanding 2-0 lead on Saturday afternoon at the MCC Centra only to watch Dakota College-Bottineau storm back and take the next 3 sets to stun the Pioneers 3-2.

Miles looked to have things cooking thru the first 2 sets winning 25-22, 25 17. Set 3 took a turn for the worse as Bottineau stayed alive 14-25 and also grabbed momentum away from the team in blue. Bottineau won the 4th game 21-25 and finished off the dramatice comeback with a 5th set 11-15 victory. 

Sydney Johnstone (Miles City, MT) led the Pioneers with 4 serving aces. Angela Youngs (Gillette, WY) was the kill leader with 16. Matilda Dietz (Manhattan, MT) and recent Valley City State signee had 23 digs on the night. Kadyn Acor (Havre, MT) had 3.5 blocks and Mandi Tvedt (Glenrock, WY) was the assist leader with 19. The Pioneers fall to 2-4 overall and 2-1 in the MonDak Conference. They will be back at home on Tuesday night at 7:00 PM as they host Williston State.
