Pioneers Notch 1st Victory of 2022 Season

Pioneers 3... Dickinson State JV 2 (25-17, 11-25, 25-15, 18-25, 15-9)

The MCC Pioneers got in to a slugfest with the Dickinson State JV team on Tuesday night and the MCC Centra and walked out of the arena with their 1st victory of the 2022 season. The back and forth affair with Dickinson State JV had the home crowd in a frenzy cheering for the Pioneers 1st win.

The Pioneers got off to a hot start in game one leading 7-1. DSU rallied for a 13-10 lead but the Pioneers scored 15 of the last 19 points to take the game. Game 2 took a turn for the Bluehawks as they dominated play in a 25-11 win. The Pioneers dominated game 3 and were within arm's length of that elusive 1st win. Dickinson State had other ideas and kept the fans in the stands with a 25-18 win in game 4 to force a deciding game 5. 

Game 5 was all Pioneers as MCC jumped out to an 8-1 lead and never looked back. Sophomore Josee Krum had a nice all-around game with 16 kills, 3 assists, 5 digs and an ace. Macy Limberhand also had a nice all-around game with 11 kills, 6 blocks, 7 digs, and 2 aces. Shepherd, MT freshman Lyndsey Kale had 8 kills, 8 digs, 3 blocks, and 2 aces. Libero Eva Boone had 11 digs to lead the way defensively while Cearra Oblander had a career high 37 assists in the match. Sophomore Hannah Kingham totaled 3 blocks, 4 digs, 7 kills, and 2 aces. The Pioneers are now 0-9 in MonDak Conference play and 1-20 overall. 

The Pioneers match on Saturday at Carroll College JV has been cancelled. Next up will be conference matches on Tuesday, October 11 against Dakota College at Bottineau and Wednesday, October 12 against Williston State. Both matches are in Miles City, MT and start at 7:00 PM MST. Wednesday's match will be Sophomore recognition night for the Pioneers.
