Road Trip Ends With Big Win at Lake Region State

Pioneers 3... Lake Region State 2 (23-25, 25-18, 25-23, 13-25, 15-13)

The MCC Pioneers ended their 5-game, 4-day road trip in fine fashion on Wednesday night in Devils Lake, ND. The Pioneers picked up their first MonDak Conference win of the season with a thrilling 3-2 win over Lake Region State College. 

MCC had a balanced offensive attack at the net as Kodiann Lynn (Simms, MT) had 13 kills and was joined in double figures in kills by Ashtynn Egan (Colstrip, MT) and Leah Champlin (Billings, MT) with 12 and 11 respectively. Ruby Gray (Billings, MT) added 9 kills. Maria Stewart (Billings, MT) set up the hitters with 48 assists and Bailey Nowicki (Miles City, MT) had 2 service aces. 

Defensively, the Pioneers were led by Jayda Southworth (Winifred, MT) with 6 blocks. Bree Swanson (Chinook, MT) had 28 digs and Egan helped out with 26 digs. 

MCC evened their overall record at 5-5 on the season and are now 1-1 in MonDak Conference play. The Pioneers host Bismarck State College on Labor Day Monday at 4:00 PM.
