Pioneers Rally for 4-Game Win Over Rival Dawson

Pioneers 3... Dawson 1 (22-25, 25-22, 25-14, 25-15)

The MCC Pioneer volleyball team went on the road Wednesday night in Glendive and smacked the host Buccaneers 3-1 to improve their 3rd place MonDak Conference record to 4-2 and an overall record of 9-7.

Dawson got off to the quick start with a 22-25 win in game 1. The Pioneers regrouped and dominated games 2, 3, and 4 to silence the Dawson crowd and snag a huge road win.

The win sets up a showdown next Tuesday when the NDSCS Wildcats come to Miles City and the Pioneers can move up to a 2nd place tie in the conference with a win.

The Pioneers had a strong night at the net blocking the Buccaneer hitters as Leah Champlin (Billings, MT) had 5 blocks while Jayda Southworth (Winifred, MT) and Ruby Gray (Billings, MT) each had 4. Bree Swanson (Chinook, MT) had 38 digs from the back row and Maria Stewart had 18. Ashtynn Egan (Colstrip, MT) added 15 digs and Kodiann Lynn (Simms, MT) had 14.

Offensively, Stewart had 43 assists and 2 service aces while Lynn had 13 kills, Egan added 12, and Champlin had 8.
