Pioneer Volleyball Stumbles at Home Against Lake Region

Pioneers 0... Lake Region State 3 (19-25, 19-25, 21-25)

The MCC Pioneers could not take advantage of early game leads and watched the Lake Region State College Royals come from behind in all three games as the Pioneers fell 0-3 on Wednesday night in Miles City. The Royal victory tied up the 2 teams for 3rd place in the MonDak Conference standings with a 4-4 record. 

The Pioneers led game one 14-9 before seeing the Royals score 13 of the next 16 points to take a 22-17 lead and finish off MCC 5 points later. In game 2, the Pioneers led 12-10 before the Royals scored 9 of the next 10 points for a commanding 19-13 lead the Pioneers could not bounce back from. MCC led game 3 19-13 but the Royals went on a late run of 12-2 to pull off the match. 

Ashtynn Egan (Colstrip, MT) and Kodiann Lynn (Simms, MT) each had kills for the Pioneers. Maria Stewart (Pryor, MT) had 20 assists and Leah Champlin (Billings, MT) had 3 service aces. 

Bre Swanson (Chinook, MT) had 25 digs on defense and Ashtynn Egan added 17. Jayda Southworth (Winifred, MT) had 5 blocks. 

The Pioneers are 9-9 overall and will host Dickinson State JV on Monday, October 2 at 7:00 PM in a non-conference match.
