Road Trip Ends With Pioneer Loss to Williston State

Pioneers 1... Williston State 3 (13-25, 23-25, 25-21, 19-25)

The MCC Pioneers ended a 3-match road streak with a loss to the Williston State Tetons that now puts the Pioneers in a 3-way tie for 3rd place in the MonDak Conference race with one match to play. 

Williston State started out hot and handled the Pioneers easily in game 1 with a 13-25 win. Game 2 was much more competitive but went the way of the Tetons late in a 23-25 WSC win. The Pioneers battled back to win game 3 by the score of 25-21 but could not push the match to a 5th game as Williston took a 19-25 victory. 

Maria Stewart (Pryor, MT) had 26 assists, 17 digs, and 2 service aces to lead the way for the Pioneers in the loss. Kodiann Lynn (Simms, MT) had 14 kills at the net. 

The Pioneer defense was led by Ashtynn Egan (Colstrip, MT) with 25 digs and libero Bree Swanson added 22. Hattie Bumgarner (Belt, MT) had 2 blocks. 

The Pioneers are tied for 3rd with Williston State and Lake Region State with one match remaining in the regular season. The Pioneers will host Dawson CC on Wednesday, October 18 at 7:00 PM. The game is the annual pack the place in pink game.
