Pioneer Rally Falls Short in Loss at Williston State

Pioneers 2... Williston State 3 (20-25, 26-28, 25-22, 25-21, 7-15)

The MCC Pioneers hit the road for the 1st time in MonDak Conference play and rallied from 2 games down to tie the match before falling in a deciding 5th game. 

MCC got off to a slow start in game 1 and fell 20-25. Game 2 was looking good but the Pioneers squandered a big lead before losing in overtime 26-28 to fall behind 0-2.

The BLUE battled back to win game 3 by the score of 25-22 and then tied the match up with a 25-21 win in game 4. All the momentum was on the side of the Pioneers but the Tetons fed off a loud home crowd to ease by the Pioneers 7-15 to pick up the conference win.  

The Pioneers were led by Ashtynn Egan (Colstrip, MT) with 16 kills and 24 digs. Zeason Schaffer (Broadus, MT) added 16 kills and high school teammate Mia Mader (Broadus, MT) served up 3 aces. Tehya Gallegos (Burns, WY) had 45 aces and Hattie Bumgarner (Belt, MT) had 3 blocks. Bree Swanson (Chinook, MT) added 22 digs. 

The Pioneers are now 2-2 in MonDak Conference play and 6-6 overall. They will play Dakota College at Bottineau tonight at 6:00 PM MST in Bottineau, ND.
